Tech companies lack the recruitment and hiring of women.

1 According to a recent Fortune survey of the top 9 tech companies in Silicon Valley, women make up about a third of the workforce, on average. The gap widens the higher you go in the organization, with the best companies showing that women hold 29 percent of leadership positions.

2 The U.S. Census Bureau reported last year that twice as many men as women work in STEM fields.

3 Gender and racial bias are so pervasive in the tech industry that they force talented female and minority employees to leave.
